Read a poem from Southside

In praise of

Southside

This remarkable collection of children’s poetry glows with the imaginative fantasy and the nuts-and-bolts honesty that are the particular visions of childhood, and are too often lost in the passage to the pretensions, clutter and accommodations of adulthood. These poems tell us about kids. They tell us about ourselves before we relinquished the magic and grew up to write grocery lists, memos and contracts. These poems, quite simply, are wonderful.
